Planned feature
A look at the planned workflow for turning a published list into catalog entries, with identity checks, citations, and human review.
This is a non-interactive preview. The example matches come from earlier runs; the list-import tool isn't available here.
Step 1
The workflow starts with a list of names and the publication they came from, such as a book, article, or museum highlights page. Add a short description when a name could refer to more than one thing.
AI may help prepare a draft list, but each item still needs a real source.
Step 2
Each name is looked up in Wikidata. A match needs both the right name and a description that fits the intended item. Uncertain matches are left for a person to review. This step doesn't change the catalog.

function
Needs review. The result describes a mathematical function, not the design concept intended here. No Wikidata ID was assigned for this match.
Examples from recorded runs in August 2026. They illustrate both confirmed and unresolved matches.
Step 3
After a person reviews the matches, the planned tool would add the entries with their sources and mark them Proposed. Existing identity and validation checks would still apply.
Step 4
A person would review the proposed batch before accepting it. Records would be checked again to make sure they haven't changed since review. The worked example follows one entry through these steps.
