What's missing, what's incomplete, and what the public demo supports.
Mnemo Atlas is an early project with a partial catalog. Here are the main limits to keep in mind while exploring.
You can browse, search, compare, explore the views, and read stories. There are no public accounts or editing tools. Personal favorites, notes, tags, collections, study review, and personalized Discover results are unavailable here.
You can still send a correction or ask about contributing.
Some topics have more entries and connections than others. That reflects the work completed so far rather than the importance of the topic.
Counts and comparisons describe this catalog only. They are not complete statistics about a field or the world.
Some entries form separate groups, and others have no recorded connections. A real-world relationship may be missing even when it is well known.
Read How connections work for the coverage measures and Roadmap for a dated progress snapshot.
| View | Required data |
|---|---|
| Timeline | A start year. |
| Map | A recorded location. |
| Scatter | Values for both selected axes. |
| Network overview | Recorded connections that place an entry in a displayed group. |
An entry can remain in the Catalog while missing from another view. Filters and review status can narrow the visible subset further.
Entries specifically typed as Fictional Story are excluded from Map, Timeline, and Scatter by the current view rules. This does not mean that every film or novel is excluded: a work's real-world creation date is different from events within its fictional narrative.
Timeline positions use years. Approximate dates still occupy numerical positions, so the chart may appear more precise than the underlying record.
Each entry has one stored location point. It does not represent a complete history of movement, residence, ownership, or exhibition.
Imported records can contain errors from their original sources. A valid field or external identifier does not prove that a fact is correct. Human review also has limits.
Proposed records await acceptance. Accepted records have passed a workflow decision; they are not guaranteed error-free. Unsourced facts have no attached citation. A source attached to the entry as a whole may not support every displayed fact.
External IDs prevent two entries from claiming the same identifier. Records without those IDs can still be duplicated, and external systems can merge or split their own records. Mnemo Atlas does not automatically reconcile every such change.
Kind validation checks the registered schema. It does not automatically verify that every selected concept, style, or role is appropriate. How entries are added explains who reviews classifications.
The public site includes recorded similarity links and Related suggestions based on existing classifications or connections. It does not offer the planned general similarity system or personalized recommendations for public visitors.
The Network displays recorded connections. Nearby points in a layout do not establish a new relationship.
